Gluten Free Crock Pot Taco Meat:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 packet GF taco seasoning mix (1.25 oz)
- Mix ground beef, salsa, and taco seasoning in the crock pot.
- Cook on high for 3 hours or low for 6 hours.
- Break apart ground beef as desired, and enjoy!
Pro tip: The longer this meat simmers in the crock pot, the better. (At least that’s my opinion.) Sometimes I’ll brown the ground beef before adding it to the crock pot, and then I’ll just let everything simmer together on low all day (about 8 hours). What this leads to is tender meat with an explosion of flavor in every bite.
This recipe is perfect for those days when you want something that’s ready to eat when you get home from work. And to be honest, it really couldn’t be any easier. It’s also perfect for a crowd! 1 lb. is the perfect amount when you’re cooking for two, but if you’re having friends over (or your family is bigger than mine), you’ll want to increase the amount you’re making.
What’s so great about this recipe is that you can easily double, triple, or quadruple the recipe without too much thinking or measuring involved. Looking to double the recipe? Get two of everything on the list! (Seriously, I told you – it couldn’t be any easier.)
When it comes to making tacos, the possibilities are endless. Here are a few gluten free toppings and taco-necessities that my husband and I enjoy:
- corn tortillas
- corn tortilla chips
- shredded lettuce
- shredded cheese
- diced avocado
- corn & black bean salsa
Growing up, I thought homemade tacos were boring. But give your meat the right flavor, and they’ll soon become a family favorite. There’s just something about the simple combination of salsa with a little bit of seasoning that really brings this taco meat to life.
